“The
Musical
Comedy
Murders
of
1940"
is
a
hilarious
spoof
of
the
entire
murder
mystery
genre
and
enjoyed
a
long
and
critically
hailed
run
both
on
and
Off-Broadway.
Poking
antic
fun
at
the
more
ridiculous
aspects
of
"show
biz"
and
the
corny
thrillers
of
Hollywood's
heyday,
the
play
is
a
non-stop
barrage
of
laughter
as
those
assembled
(or
at
least
those
who
aren't
killed
off)
untangle
the
mystery
of
the
"Stage
Door
Slasher."
You’ll
have
an
evening
that
will
keep
an
audience
guessing
as
well
as
laughing.
There
are
roles
for
5
men
and
5
women,
ages
20’s
to
60’s. Auditions
will
consist
of
cold
readings
from
the
script.
It
is
preferred
the
role
of
Roger
Hopewell
be
played
by
an
actor
who
is
an
adequate
pianist.
Several
roles
require
some
basic
singing,
so
actors
may
be
asked
to
sing
a
cappella
at
auditions
if
being
considered
for
one
of
these
roles.
Copies
of
the
script
are
available
for
reading
at
the
theatre. Rehearsals
will
begin
immediately
after
casting,
and
will
be
held
on
Saturday
and
Sunday
afternoons,
and
Monday,
Tuesday,
and
Wednesday
evenings. Actors
are
paid
a
stipend
(theater
talk
for
not
very
much,
but
you’ll
have
the
time
of
your
life!) The
show
will
open
on
February
23
and
will
run
through
March
31,
with
shows
Thursday
through
Sunday
evenings. Auditions
are
by
appointment,
which
can
be
made
by
calling
(214)
821-1860.
